Romayne and Danny Byrum are from Batten Bay Farm, Carrolton, VA. Romayne is a member of the Elizabeth River Garden Club. Most of the driftwood used for this project was retrieved from the James River and was collected over a 25 year period. It took about 100 hours to complete from design to installation.
Romayne and Danny shared that most of the pieces look like animals to them...from birds to cows. They both look forward to hearing what others envision as they look at the shapes of the driftwood. Danny’s favorite features are the pieces with oyster shells and barnacles attached.
